The announcement of the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards nominations marks the official commencement of Hollywood’s 2024 awards season. ‘Barbenheimer’ takes the lead with nine nominations for ‘Barbie’ and eight for ‘Oppenheimer,’ while the concluding season of ‘Succession’ emerges as a front-runner with nine nominations.
Presented by Cedric ‘The Entertainer’ and Wilmer Valderrama, the nominations encompass 27 categories honoring excellence in film and television. CBSNews.com livestreamed the presentation, with 10 categories also broadcasted live on ‘CBS Mornings.’

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 7, from 8-11 p.m. ET (5-8 p.m. PT) and will be broadcast live on CBS, marking a new partnership between the Golden Globes and the network. The ceremony will also be available for streaming on Paramount+ and the CBS app, with Paramount Global as CBS’s parent company.
This move to CBS follows the conclusion of the longstanding NBC relationship, as the award show seeks to rebuild its credibility under new leadership following a widely-publicized scandal and boycotts over racism and ethical concerns within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organization behind the Globes.
Dick Clark Productions is now the owner and producer of the Golden Globe Awards, and nominees and winners are chosen by a voting body of 300 members spanning 75 countries.
This year introduces two new categories to the Golden Globes: cinematic and box office achievement in motion pictures, and best stand-up comedian on television.
Films and series released between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 are eligible for consideration during the current eligibility period.
