David Beckham, the former England football star, has opened up about how watching the Netflix documentary series “Beckham,” which chronicles his rise from humble beginnings to global stardom, was an emotionally challenging experience.
Beckham, who was initially prevented from watching the documentary due to Netflix’s editorial policies, finally sat down to view it with his wife, Victoria Beckham, during its premiere. The series delves into Beckham’s personal and professional life, including the infamous 1998 World Cup incident in which he was sent off for kicking an Argentine player.

Recounting the incident in an interview with AP, Beckham admitted that revisiting that moment was a difficult experience. “I’ve never talked about these certain moments in my career and in my life,” he said. “I hadn’t actually watched it and I hadn’t actually watched the interviews and what people said about me after.”
“I knew it was bad at the time, but going over the whole thing was quite a tough one,” he added.
Despite the emotional turmoil, Beckham also expressed gratitude for the documentary, acknowledging its value in capturing his life story. “I’m proud of what I’ve achieved,” he said. “I’m proud of my family. I’m proud of where I’ve come from.”
Beckham’s candidness about the emotional impact of the documentary highlights the power of storytelling to evoke deep emotions and bring to light personal struggles that even the most celebrated individuals face.
