Today, DJI thrilled content creators with the release of standalone versions of its upgraded Mic 2 wireless audio system, promising enhanced features and flexibility. While initially introduced alongside the Pocket 3, the standalone release introduces significant improvements, making the Mic 2 an even more enticing audio solution.
Enhanced Mic, Enhanced Features:
Wireless audio systems became popular in 2019, and DJI joined the wave in 2022 with its first-generation mics. Now, with the Mic 2, DJI aims to elevate the audio game for content creators. Similar to RODE’s Wireless Pro mics, the Mic 2 boasts 32-bit recording on the transmitter and advanced AI noise reduction. These features were previously announced alongside the Pocket 3 but are now available for standalone purchase.
Reviews highlight the positive impact of 32-bit recording for robust editing possibilities, while opinions on AI noise cancellation are mixed. Despite potential audio quality reduction, the feature proves handy for recording in noisy environments, especially for users with limited audio editing skills.
Extended Battery Life and Standalone Freedom:
The Mic 2’s transmitter and receiver each offer up to six hours of battery life, extendable to 18 hours with the charging case. Excitingly, DJI now introduces standalone versions, breaking away from the previous limitation of purchasing it only in a bundle with the Pocket 3.
The bundles range from a comprehensive set featuring two transmitters, one receiver, and a redesigned charging case, to individual transmitters and receivers. Notably, DJI Mic 2 transmitters are now available in two stylish colors, Pearl White and Shadow Black.
Affordable Packages:
Interested buyers can choose from the following packages:
- Two transmitters/one receiver (with charging case): $349
- One transmitter/one receiver (without charging case): $219
- DJI Mic 2 transmitter: $99
Additionally, DJI introduces an official lavalier mic priced at $39, providing discreet audio recording directly into the transmitter.
Seamless Smartphone Connectivity:
Improving upon its predecessor, the Mic 2 supports a broader range of devices. While the previous model required a receiver for smartphone connections, the Mic 2 transceiver can now directly connect to supported smartphones. The Bluetooth compatibility extends to iPhones from the 15 to the XS, Google Pixel 8 through 5, Galaxy S23 through S21, and other popular models.
This direct connection allows users to take photos or control recordings with a press of a button on the transceiver, providing added convenience.
The DJI Mic 2 is available for purchase on the DJI website and Amazon, opening up new possibilities for content creators seeking top-notch audio solutions.
