In the upcoming film ‘Poor Things,’ Ramy Youssef showers praise on his co-star Emma Stone, describing their collaboration as an enjoyable and whimsical experience.
During a conversation with Letterboxd, Youssef shared insights into working alongside the Oscar-winning actress, expressing that the entire process felt akin to navigating a delightful funhouse. He elaborated, stating, “It was… the whole thing was like this epic field trip.”
In the course of the interview, Youssef also touched upon his father’s perspective on Yorgos Lanthimos’ directorial venture, ‘The Killing of the Sacred Deer.’ Recalling his father’s response, Youssef chuckled, “He’s just like, ‘Huh,’ you know — like my dad was just talking about the lighting a lot. He was like, ‘Good lighting,’ ‘natural lighting,’ you know?”
Reflecting on the 2017 psychological thriller, Youssef expressed fascination with Lanthimos’ ability to reshape on-screen relationships and bring underlying dynamics to the forefront. He noted, “I was just really fascinated by the way that he can kind of reframe what relationships look like on screen. He brings that subconscious hum that a dynamic might have between two people into the forefront.”
