As the highly anticipated fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” approaches, series co-creator Ross Duffer has taken a moment to honor some of the beloved characters who won’t be returning for the final chapter.
Duffer recently shared touching tributes to two fallen favorites on social media, Billy Hargrove and Barbara Holland. Billy’s memorial stone bore the affectionate nickname “Sweet William,” a reminder of Dacre Montgomery’s captivating portrayal of the character. Barbara’s stone, simply etched with “RIP Barb Holland” and a crying emoji, served as a poignant nod to Shannon Purser’s impactful performance. Both characters met tragic ends early in the series, Barbara in season one and Billy in season three.

Season four introduced another fan-favorite character with Eddie Munson, brought to life by Joseph Quinn’s portrayal of a guitar-shredding metalhead. Eddie bravely sacrificed himself in the fight against the villainous forces of the Upside Down.
With the recent resolution of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, production on the final season of “Stranger Things” has resumed, and filming is expected to commence in the coming days. David Harbour, who plays the endearing Police Chief Jim Hopper, expressed his eagerness to get back to work during a red carpet appearance for the BoxLunch Gala benefiting Feeding America.

“I mean, we got to film that last season of ‘Stranger Things,’ don’t we? I got to be down there, like, in a couple of days. We got to get going — we’re late,” Harbour remarked.
As the series prepares to bid farewell, fans can hold onto the memories of these beloved characters who have made a lasting impact on the world of “Stranger Things.”
