In a candid conversation on the recent episode of Chicken Soup Date, iconic singer Cher shared her bold dating advice, encouraging women to embrace the possibility of finding love with someone younger. Amid her blossoming romance with 37-year-old music producer Alexander Edwards, the 77-year-old star revealed her newfound perspective on age differences in relationships.
“Go out with a younger man,” Cher advised host Amelia Dimoldenberg, expressing her admiration for her younger partner. Cher admitted that her relationship with Edwards was an unexpected turn of events, as she never envisioned herself dating someone 40 years her junior.

Cher recounted the early stages of their connection, recalling a text exchange that sparked their romance. “I left to go to Switzerland and he texted me, ‘Where are you going?’ I said ‘I’m going to Switzerland. I’m a little tired,’ and then he wrote to me, ‘Well, get some rest, baby,’ with three Ys,” she explained. “And I’m like, ‘He doesn’t know me well enough to put three Ys on the baby.’ I was kind of pissed off. And then he just started texting me.”
This experience led Cher to reconsider her previous stance on dating younger men. “I used to tell my friends, don’t fall in love with a younger man, we’re too old. And don’t fall in love by text. There goes that theory,” she confessed.
Cher and Edwards’s paths crossed at Paris Fashion Week in the fall of 2022, and their connection was instant. According to Page Six, the couple reportedly broke up in May but rekindled their romance a few months later.
